Every four years the country is gripped by World Cup fever.  This year more than most.

Sales of beer and barbecues rocket; but what is the impact on the property market?

Activity in general seems to be affected by big events.  In recent times, we have had world cups, elections, the Olympics, Jubilee Celebrations and Royal Weddings.  All have an impact on our daily lives, and all have an indirect effect on the property market.

For Example, on the night that England plyed Tunisia in this years' World Cup I was on my way from Huddersfield to Leeds on the M62.  The roads could not have been quieter.  A journey that should have taken 70 minutes took only 35.  Not bad going from Holmfirth to Headingly.

Coming home from my appointment was even quieter.  My partner and I pulled out onto the Wetherby road mid-way through the second half of the game, and we were the only car for miles around!

Translate this lack of activity in everyday life to the build-up and then aftermath of each game and one will see a real dent in public activity.

Every four years there is a dip in the number of housing transactions in June/July.  Other sectors are affected too.

When England have been playing weekend fixtures, there have been no viewings, no phone calls, and no offers.  People have had better things to do.

If this has been the situation with your house, you needn't have worried that your agent wasn't doing anything to sell your property; there was little they could do.

For advice and information on how to sell your house over the summer, please contact us on 01484 444567, we would be more than happy to provide you with some assistance.
